I would thoroughly recommend using CARS as your Recruitment Agency. After sending my CV to them I received a call back from Phil Hutchinson who discussed my CV, work experience and skills in detail.

I had been looking to move from a volume franchise for some time and looking at trying to get into a prestige dealership. I monitored CARS recruitment website on and off for a few months, there seemed to be an expanding number of appointments on the site, and all with companies that I had heard good things about.
I went on one morning and saw a job that I really liked the sound of, I called the recruitment number and spoke with Chris Watson. I found Chris very honest and extremely friendly, and he was easily able to answer all of the questions I had about the role.

On the 20th March 2012 the Yorkshire Region M.A. Event was on the importance of getting the policies and procedures correct to successfully recruit the right person. This included how not to leave the company open to claims of discrimination from unsuccessful candidates and the relevant Employment legislation connected to recruitment.
The presentation was by Chris Watson FIMI - Director and Partner of Connect HR & Recruitment Ltd who trade as CARS and Car Jobs UK. Chris after many years of experience within the retail motor industry at senior management level, in 2007 with others of the same back ground, formed the company.
Chris, who has a good knowledge of both the motor trade and recruitment gave a very good presentation that took us from the point where the applications and CV had come in, to the offer of a position. This included information on: - setting a winner’s profile, and ideal candidate’s profile, the importance of a scorecard system, how to construct a score card and agreeing a set of questions that would draw out the characteristics to look for. These characteristics included for example, organisational skill, enthusiasm, intelligence, communication skills, self-development and cultural fit.
We were taken through the structured questions that should be asked such as those on the CV, on capability and experience but also question techniques including the shared hypothesis, lead in questions, probing questions, the importance of follow up questions in order to get to real person.
The presentation also included tools that can be used to help ensure you get the right person including looking at application forms carefully, appropriate qualifications, skills testing, trial periods and candidate presentations as part of the interview process.
Chris concluded the presentation with a good clear explanation of the relevant parts of employment legislation. What checks needed to be done on none UK applicants where to look for guidance and what the penalties were if a company got it wrong.
We were also informed of the importance of having a good policy and procedure for recruitment in place and the need to keep the paperwork from the recruitment process for six months to cover the company in the event of any employment claim.
The Event concluded with questions from the members. This was a very good Event from which the members all learned a lot about recruitment.
Chris had come to the evening Event after delivering an excellent presentation from the Candidates perspective to a group of students at the Leeds City College in the afternoon.
